We would like to express our concern about certain investments by [name bank].

Recent research has revealed that your company is involved in financing internationally contested and potentially illegal activities. The report 'Investors in Uranium Weapons', released to the press on the 6th of November, states that [name bank] finances [name of companies this bank invests in], [three/two/a] major producer[s] of Uranium Weapons and other controversial arms systems.

These companies develop products that cause indiscriminate damage to civilian populations, military personnel and the environment. As such, their use is a direct breach of International Humanitarian Law. Exposure to Depleted Uranium can result in cancer and immune and nervous system damage. It also has the potential to trigger birth malformations. A growing awareness of these hazards has led to a domestic ban on their manufacture, use and export in Belgium and two calls from the European Parliament for an international moratorium leading to a ban.

Any party in civil society that plays a role in the production of these weapon systems may be held accountable for the harm they cause. Therefore, investing in the producers of uranium weapons is not only deeply unethical; it also poses a financial risk to your company.
