Brussels, 26 September 2005 - At 6:00 pm on Friday, September 23, Boycott Bush activists have joined some 250 activists to form a human chain right in front of the US embassy in Brussels. That way, they wanted to symbolically encircle the US embassy - as the peace movement in the United States was planning to encircle the White House on Saturday, September 24 - in protest against the war on Iraq and against the Bush Administration's attitude in the Katrina disaster.

Antiwar protests occured on Saturday, September 24, in Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Rome and other cities.

According to the protest organizers 300,000 of people packed downtown Washington and marched past the White House in the largest show of antiwar sentiment in the nation's capital since the conflict in Iraq began.

Thousands of demonstrators demanding the withdrawal of British troops from Iraq marched through downtown London.

In Brussels, messages of solidarity and thanks from the US anti-war movements the Troops Out Now Coalition, the US Peace Council and A.N.S.W.E.R. were read before the rallyists, to loud applause.

Among the speakers at the rally were Prof. Lieven De Cauter (BRussells Tribunal), with an Open Letter to Bush, Pol De Vos (StopUSA), Carla Goffy (Christian Movement for Peace) and Katrien Demuynck (Iniciativa Cuba Socialista).

Boycott Bush activists called the audience to boycott US multinationals and distributed Boycott Bush dollar notes including a list of products to boycott to the by-passers.

You can find Boycott Bush dollar notes (list of products to boycott) here.
