Protest during EU Summit Monday 17th February, in Brussels

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brussels, February 15th 2003 - During the extraordinary meeting of the European Heads of State concerning the Iraq Crisis, Members of the European Parliament and peace activists will protest against the war. They will gather on Monday evening, 17th February, at 5.30pm near the Justus Lipsiusbuilding in the Wetstraat in Brussels. This action is an initiative of For Mother Earth and Vrede vzw. The
NGO's and MEP's want to increase the pressure on European Heads of State.

According to spokesperson Pol D'Huyvetter war is no solution and will make things worse: "Both the public opinion and the European Parliament have given
very clear signals that there is no division in Europe. A huge majority of Europeans do not want a war in Iraq. We wonder who stateleaders as Blair, Aznar and Berlusconi are really representing? For sure not the people!".

You will find the peace protestors in Westraat/Reu de la Loi (near Schuman & Blijde Inkomstraat)
